Art:314 Contemporary Art Museum

Next Friday, Nov. 14, the Contemporary Art Museum will host Art:314. The silent auction and party that will take place, benefits Open Studios STL, which is 160 artist studios open to the public over the course of one weekend.

Art:314 will display works from a diverse group of more than 35 St. Louis artists, who will receive 50 percent of all work purchased that evening. This night is a great opportunity to support local artists and if you are new to the gallery scene, CAM is a perfect place to start.

Bradley and I are looking forward to getting dolled-up and celebrating a few of our favorite creators, including metalsmith Hunter Creel. I was introduced to Creel's work when he provided sculptures at a Climb So iLL climbing competition. Ever since, I have been attracted to the animated, minimalist qualities of his work.

His sculptures may look clean and easy but they are anything but simple. Hours and hours of creation go into his intricate designs. Learn more about Hunter later this week on The Daily Wild. Right now he is working in Tennessee as an artist-in-residence, so we caught up over email for a Q&A discussing his work and inspiration. I can't wait to see it displayed next Friday at Art:314.

I hope you'll make plans to join us at the Contemporary Art Museum, next Friday Nov. 14 at 8pm for a night of dancing, open bar and celebration. Tickets can be purchased on CAM's website. Also, as a thank you for reading The Daily Wild, use the coupon code TDW1648 and receive $10 off your tickets.
