Modern Bohemian Nursery Inspiration
Many people have asked us how we'll decorate the babies room. I love how for at least the first couple years of a child's life, their style is really just an extension of your own. Thinking about how we would finish his space has been really fun, but I'm definitely not the traditional mom when thinking about the design avenues we'll take. I think of this new bedroom less like a nursery and more like an adult room with a baby in it. That might sound severe, but really, he's not going to care for a couple of years is he? I'm concerned most about his safety and comfort and when it comes to how the room is actually decorated, I just want it to be cool for us. I want it to look like Brad and I. I want it to flow with the rest of our home, and I selfishly don't want to give up my style so our nursery can look like a baby department store.
Our home is a mix of earthy, muted, bohemian and vintage elements and when I started thinking about a baby boys room I immediately thought of southwest. I love the idea of mixing my obsession of Native American and Mexican cultures with our stark white floors and walls. Things have been coming together slowly, but here are a few pieces that we've added so far. Like where this is going? You can find more inspiration on my Southwest Nursery Pinterest board. What did you consider when decorating your new baby's room? I'd love to know. Let's connect. Tweet me at @RachelBrandt.
