Black Lives Matter: Two Resources I've Found Helpful This Week

I’ve been doing a lot of listening and unlearning this past week, and there is certainly much more to do. It may feel abundantly clear to me in my heart, but one of the most important things I’ve personally learned this week is that I need to be more vocal: Black lives matter to me. Black lives are deeply loved by my family. Blackness is a beautiful gift that I see and cherish.

I am not, and never will be, the best person to speak and educate on this. So that’s why this week, I’ve looked to Black people around me for continual education. And by “looked to,” I do not mean reached out to for information. Black people are not responsible for making us better people or educating us on what is right. That is our responsibility. I’ve included a couple of links below that I frequently turn to, but I sincerely encourage you to seek out information. There are so many incredible Black people in St. Louis sharing resources right now and always.

This little blog is a fun outlet for me. It’s not a business and I rarely post here. However, I can make the pledge that when I do choose to post, I can feature more black images and resources for St. Louis mothers. I can also continue to recognize that by simply growing up in the United States I have racial bias built into my life and I will actively fight against it.

Remember, have grace for yourself and others. Blogposts and social media are not the only places work is being done. Keep working to move this conversation forward even when the protests have subsided. It is not enough to not be racist. It is imperative that we be actively anti-racist and recognize, apologize, and stay uncomfortable with our privilege. Let love lead always.

Black Lives Matter.
